The Ministry of High Technology Industry of the Republic of Armenia, the company Levi Semiconductor, and Enterprise Armenia have signed a memorandum of cooperation with the aim of establishing the first plant in Armenia engaged in the pure production of multi-component semiconductor and silicon photonic/optical microchips.

In fulfillment of its mission to attract high-value investments and promote the country's economic and technological advancement, Enterprise Armenia, along with Levi Semiconductor, has secured an investment of USD 34 million. This investment will contribute to the production of multi-component semiconductor and silicon photonic microchips in Armenia, the localization of the semiconductor industry's value chain, and the creation of added value.

"This cooperation highlights the effectiveness of our strategies for promoting investments and our commitment to positioning Armenia as a competitive player in the global semiconductor industry. The proactive efforts of our team have led to the involvement of this transformative investment, marking the beginning of a new technological development in Armenia," stated Levon Ohanesyan CEO of Enterprise Armenia.

Within the framework of the memorandum, Enterprise Armenia will provide Levi Semiconductor with a comprehensive range of services to meet operational needs. This includes assistance in finding suitable land and buildings, obtaining necessary licenses and permits, as well as ongoing consultancy for navigating the investment environment in Armenia. Additionally, to ensure the company's successful entry and continuous growth in regional and global markets, Enterprise Armenia will actively promote its partner's initiatives during various sectoral events.

The high-tech plant is planned to produce at least 12,000 microchip substrates annually; the rapidly growing global market for photonic components is projected to reach USD 26 billion by 2032. Additionally, Levi Semiconductor will create approximately 86 new jobs, of which 50 will be in the research and development sector.

This development is not only a significant step towards increasing Armenia's international competitiveness in the semiconductor industry but also underscores the results of Enterprise Armenia’s efforts to promote investments.
