In the global race toward digital transformation, Armenia is emerging as a standout – not only for rapid growth of its tech sector, but for the decisive role women are playing in shaping that momentum. With nearly 40% of its tech workforce made up of women, Armenia is outpacing many regional and global peers, offering a compelling case study in inclusive, high-performance innovation.

Globally, the picture is more uneven.   According to UNESCO, women make up only 28% of the IT workforce, with in some EU countries reporting participation rates as low as 17%. At the leadership level, the gap widens: only 11% of tech C-suite roles are held by women, as reported by Gartner in 2023.

Armenia tells a different story.  According to the 2024 Armenian Tech Market Report (produced by Armenian Code Academy, STEP Consulting and the Technological Education Foundation), 39.8% of the country’s 58,700 tech employees are women. They hold 27% of technical roles, 63% of non-technical roles and represent 18.8% of founders or top executives in leading companies across the industry.

More than equality: a strategic advantage

Armenia is not simply ticking the box on gender equality – it is leveraging inclusivity as a strategic advantage. Multiple studies, including McKinsey’s landmark report, confirm that gender-diverse teams are 35% more likely to outperform in areas like product development and innovation.

In Armenia, this translates to:

  • Enhanced investor confidence, driven by a highly educated and gender-diverse workforce.
  • Greater organizational resilience amid shifting markets and global investment cycles.
  • A deeper, more sustainable talent pipeline, nurtured through inclusivity and STEM education initiatives.
  • A Culture of inclusion, a future of innovation

Women in Armenia’s tech sector is not a trend, nor an exception – t’s a norm. From engineering and data science to strategy, management and product innovation, women are shaping the direction of Armenia’s digital economy.

A signal to global partners

This commitment to inclusion is more than internal policy – it reflects Armenia’s ambition to lead through innovation, resilience and diversity. For global investors and technology partners, Armenia presents a unique environment where talent, creativity and equity intersect.

By recognizing the catalytic role of women in driving growth and transformation, Armenia is building a future-ready economy – one that is inclusive by design and competitive by nature. This is not just a milestone. It’s our model.
