Armenia is charting a bold new path on the global technology map with the announcement of a landmark $500 million public-private partnership between the Government of Armenia and Firebird.ai, an AI cloud company headquartered in San Francisco and Yerevan. This transformative initiative, supported by leading global players like NVIDIA, represents a critical inflection point in Armenia’s ambition to become the regional leader in next-generation artificial intelligence infrastructure.

A Vision to Accelerate Armenia’s AI Ecosystem

Emerging from stealth mode, Firebird has unveiled plans to build the Caucasus’ first and largest AI supercomputer by 2026 - powered by NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs - and supported by a multi-stakeholder coalition spanning government, industry, academia, and global capital. This initiative is not only about deploying state-of-the-art technology, but about fueling Armenia’s entire AI ecosystem:

  • High-performance data infrastructure
  • Strategic academic partnerships
  • AI model development and innovation incubation
  • Regional tech talent empowerment

AI factories are the infrastructure of the 21st century,” stated Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “Our collaboration with Armenia will help build foundational AI capacity and unlock new opportunities for innovation and economic growth across the region.”

Firebird’s ambitions go beyond infrastructure. “This is about building a launchpad for innovation — from Armenia to the world,” said Razmig Hovaghimian, Firebird’s Co-founder and CEO. “We will invest in novel models, in robotics and the sciences in partnership with leading universities, and build the capacity to incubate the next generation of innovators in Armenia.”

Regional Partnerships, Global Implications

The project is further strengthened by contributions from major regional and international actors:

Team Group, parent of Telecom Armenia and Imagine Broadband (Ireland), will bring technical expertise and connectivity infrastructure to accelerate data center deployment.

The Afeyan Foundation for Armenia, led by Noubar Afeyan (CEO of Flagship Pioneering), joins as a founding investor and strategic partner.

The U.S. Embassy in Armenia is also voicing strong support, with Ambassador Kristina Kvien highlighting the significance of this U.S.-Armenian technology partnership:

“We are excited about the potential for U.S. technology exports and AI leadership to drive more innovation in Armenia’s dynamic tech sector.”

As Noubar Afeyan emphasized, “Armenia’s next chapter in technology leadership will be built on global collaboration and long-term investment. Developing AI infrastructure for Armenia and the broader region is a bold step toward positioning the country as a meaningful contributor in the global AI landscape.”

Positioning Armenia at the Heart of Global AI

Enterprise Armenia views this collaboration as a strategic pillar in reinforcing Armenia’s international investment image and enhancing its position as a regional innovation leader. This initiative is more than just technological advancement—it is about economic transformation, educational upliftment, and global relevance.

By aligning high-value partnerships, technical capacity building, and international cooperation, Firebird and the Government of Armenia are laying the digital foundation for a smarter, more connected future—one where Armenia is not just adapting to AI trends, but helping define them.
